Ten Northumbrians Recieve County FA Awards
We announced the winners of the local FA Grassroots Football Awards at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Friday evening.
Anthony Rutherford hosted the awards evening, raising money with the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, and the night was capped off with a comedy performance from Josh Daniels.
Close to 200 were in attendance to celebrate grassroots football and ten awards were handed out along with county caps for youth team players: Thomas Kalthoeber, Paul Van-Zandvliet and Sam Dibb-Fuller who had reached 10 appearances for the county team.
Sponsors Nigel Reeves from Reeves Independent and Ken Beattie from Techflow Marine also attended the awards, with their backing helping the Association to produce a successful event in Newcastle.
After over 60 nominations the award winners were announced as follows: Nick Laidler ('#WeOnlyDoPositive' Respect Award), Barry John Dent (Supporter of the Year), Eric Cummings (Grounds Team of the Year), Cramlington United Disability Section (Project of the Year), Joey Harries (Rising Star of the Year), Theo Millington (Match Official of the Year), Pin Point Leagues (League of the Year), Andy Turnbull (Coach of the Year), Newcastle Westgate (Club of the Year), Stewart Lovejoy (Volunteer of the Year).
The winners will now be put forward for the national Football Association awards which will be announced later this month.
