Thompson Appointed Permanent Role
Northumberland FA would like to announce the appointment of Alan Thompson as Youth Team Head Coach on a permanent basis.
Thompson led the team to a runners-up place in the Association of Northern Counties competition last season as interim Head Coach; only losing out to Durham in the final at Whitley Park.
Speaking on his permanent appointment, Thompson said: “I'm absolutely delighted to be given the chance to manage the youth team permanently.
"Last season showed that Northumberland has a very talented pool of players to choose from and the unbeaten league section followed by reaching the northern counties final is testament to that.
"Unfortunately we fell short against Durham and that still hurts, so I'm happy to be given the opportunity to work with the players and try to go one better.
"The strength in depth of the counties under-18 players gives me a real belief that we can achieve success."
Youth Team trials for the 2019/20 season will commence at Newcastle East End Football Club on Monday 29th July and Monday 5th August 2019.
