Disability
From grassroots to the elite game, whether you're a coach or a player, here is how you can take part in disability football
There has never been a better time to get involved and play football, whatever your ability level. There are now more opportunities than ever to play football if you have a disability.
Northumberland FA believe in flexible, inclusive and accessible playing opportunities for everyone, and are committed to delivering a range of opportunities for players with a disability to access football at various levels across the county.
Three key areas are DWF, FA Peoples Cup and Pinpoint Participation League:
DWF – Disability Workforce Fund, this funding is in place for three years running from July 2016 to June 2019. The project is based on increasing and sustaining participation in Disability sport. It also gives regular participants the opportunity to play in FA affiliated teams in the local Pinpoint Inclusive League.
FA Peoples Cup – An annual Disability football competition for the North East Region, giving players the opportunity to participate in an FA National Tournament. They have the prospect to play at Wembley if they progress.
Pinpoint Participation League – Newcastle United Foundation in partnership with Northumberland County FA have set up a local monthly fixture based league. The league is banded in three levels of ability and mobility. The Pinpoint League is professionally ran and they run this alongside mainstream boys and girls chartered standard clubs. They facilitate fixtures and results which feature on FA Full Time.
